Happy Earth Week --  a perfect time to appreciate our beautiful Lowcountry and get involved in events that celebrate and protect our environment. The week of April 21st is packed with activities for nature lovers, families, and community enthusiasts alike.​

But first.... Our Weekend Rewind: More than 200 families gathered at Beaufort Seventh-day Adventist Church on Saturday, April 19 for a community baby shower supporting new and expectant mothers. In partnership with Molina Healthcare, BJHCHS, and Healing Hurts Ministries, the event offered free baby supplies, health screenings, and a special baby dedication—celebrating life, care, and the spirit of Easter. Celebrate Earth Day at the Spring Wellness Fair & TCL Campus Clean-Up

Happening Tuesday, April 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Beaufort Mather Campus (Bldg. 12 Lobby). Explore TCL’s health and wellness resources, connect with local organizations, and join Beaufort County Public Works for a hands-on clean-up effort to help keep our campus beautiful. Free t-shirts and swag will be available while supplies last—so come early, bring a friend, and be part of a day dedicated to healthy living and environmental care.


🌍 Earth Day Wellness: Free Lunch & Lecture at the YMCA

Local health educator Martha Kester presents "Facts, Not Fads: Busting Health Myths," a lecture designed to separate truth from trend when it comes to healthy living. 📍Wardle Family YMCA – 1801 Richmond Ave, Port Royal. 🕧 Lunch will be served at 12:50 PM, and the lecture begins at 1:00 PM.

This event is free and open to the public—donations are welcome and appreciated.Let’s honor Earth Day by taking care of ourselves, our neighbors, and the truth. 💚


Beaufort Litter Patrol x Grounded Running

Meet up at the Spanish Moss Trail (📍 Roseida Rd. lot – 1003 Hodge Dr.) at 5:30 p.m. for a quick welcome, connection time, and game plan. The clean-up starts  at 5:45 p.m., focusing on our adopted section of the trail.

Around 6:30–6:45 p.m., we’ll gather again to drop off supplies and weigh the collected trash. Stick around for some post-clean-up fun—Tim from Grounded Running will be grilling burgers, and we’ll have refreshing lemon cucumber water on hand. Come for the clean-up, stay for the community! Thursday, April 24 🦪 Get Muddy for a Good Cause Volunteer to Restore Oyster Reefs! | 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM | Join the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources' SCORE program for a hands-on oyster reef build along the Beaufort River! Volunteers will get muddy, lift 40-pound bags of oyster shells, and work alongside the SCDNR team to restore vital coastal habitat.📍Parris Island Boat Ramp, 21 Marina Blvd,You’ll learn how oyster reefs support marine life, protect shorelines, and filter our waterways—all while making a real impact.

Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, bring water, sunscreen, and your best can-do attitude. Rainboots or old sneakers are a must. Click here to sign up.


Friday & Saturday, April 25–26 – Her X Mark: Women’s Voices During Reconstruction – The USCB Institute for the Study of the Reconstruction Era presents a free two-day symposium featuring exhibits and discussions on the impact of women during Reconstruction. 🦋 Saturday, April 26 – Release & Remember Butterfly Ceremony – Honor loved ones and support Friends of Caroline Hospice at the annual butterfly release 📍 Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park in downtown Beaufort at 11 AM. Butterflies can be purchased for $12, with proceeds supporting hospice care in the Lowcountry.

The event features family-friendly activities, safety demonstrations, and a chance to connect with local law enforcement.

Birthday for the Birds – A Celebration at the Cypress Wetlands | Sunday, April 27 | 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
