🎉 Children's Day at the Beaufort Museum - Revolutionary War Reenactments

Step back in time to 1780 this Saturday at the Beaufort History Museum for Children’s Day—a day of fun, history, and hands-on adventure! From 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the museum will host a Revolutionary War Living History Reenactment on a closed-off section of Craven Street, right in front of the historic Arsenal.
The event kicks off with a cannon firing at 10:00 AM, followed by more cannons at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM. Kids will have the chance to be part of the action, recreating the famous Battle of Port Royal Island. Young participants will be divided into Patriots and Loyalists, battling it out in honor of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.
We’re looking for at least 50 children for each battle to ensure an exciting, authentic experience. This fun and educational reenactment is designed to meet state standards and provides an interactive, inquiry-based learning experience for kids of all ages.
What’s in store?
Hands-on learning with drills, musket loading (using black sugar and gummy balls), and even a cannon ballistics lesson led by Warrior Brigade Commander Tom Oblak (retired U.S. Army) and historian Robert Ryals.
Kids will also get a glimpse into Revolutionary War medical practices and the fight against epidemics. They’ll also get to handle a real cannon and test their aim with a “hand cannon” (safely, of course—no real ammo!).
Event Details:
Cannon firings at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 2:00 PM
Location: Beaufort History Museum, 713 Craven Street, Beaufort, SC
Date: Saturday, March 22 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
This special event is funded by a grant from the 250th Anniversary of the South Carolina American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission (SC250).
Don’t miss out on this unforgettable experience for your little ones.
