Beaufort High Grad Turned L.A. Filmmaker Brings Next Project Back Home

Back in May 2025, we (re)introduced you to Justin Graves, a Beaufort High alum turned L.A. filmmaker. But he's back in the picture — literally. Justin is currently raising money to film Last Call, a feature thriller film shot right here in Beaufort. Production is planned to start in 2027.

Here's the story behind the film: Twenty years ago, three estranged friends made a drunken promise that if their favorite bar ever closed, they would all come back for one last drink together. Now the bar is actually closing, and after years apart, they are keeping their word. What should be a simple, nostalgic night quickly turns into a mess: old jokes, grudges, secrets revealed, and some real questions about whether their lives turned out the way they had envisioned.

Most of the pieces are already falling into place: locations, crew, local talent and community support. However, what’s left is the final push on funding — and that's where you enter the conversation. Justin and his team has an active GoFundMe with a $15,000 goal. He has raised almost $3,000 so far.

A casting call is TBD in Winter 2027. So, be sure to follow the campaign if you want a shot at being in the film! If your business wants to sponsor or partner on a story that's proudly, unmistakably Beaufort, reach out to thebeaufortblog@gmail.com.
