About the Artist

John Gleason is a painter whose work focuses on the landscapes and architecture of the southern coast. His subjects are simple—beach houses, marshes, skies—but the way he captures them feels powerful and personal. Sometimes he pours paint in loose, expressive ways. Other times he carefully builds images from photographs, creating sharp, almost pixel-like detail.

Gleason grew up in North Florida, studied at Colorado State University and Florida State University, and now lives in South Georgia. His art has been shown at museums and art centers across the Southeast, including the FSU Museum of Fine Arts and Boca Raton Museum of Art, Lowcountry Weekly reports.

Whether you are a longtime art lover or just curious about something new, the opening night reception on October 3 is the perfect chance to enjoy an evening of creativity in the heart of downtown Beaufort.

About Elevate Art

This show is presented by Elevate Art, a Beaufort-based organization founded in 2024 by Stella (Zvezdana) Scott. Elevate Art does not run a traditional gallery. Instead, it curates pop-up exhibits, online collections, and special projects that bring art into new spaces and connect artists with the community. Its mission: to make art more accessible, more visible, and more connected to local culture.
