A Weekend Rooted in Heritage and Community

This weekend, all roads lead to St. Helena Island for the 41st Annual Heritage Days Celebration at Penn Center â€” a cultural homecoming honoring the spirit and legacy of the Gullah Geechee people. The weekend will be filled with music, food, storytelling, and reflection.

But the celebration doesn’t stop there. From new restaurant openings to Veterans Day tributes, here’s what’s happening all around Beaufort and Port Royal.


Friday, November 7

5 PM – 8 PM | First Friday Downtown Beaufort
Downtown Beaufort
Shops, galleries, and restaurants stay open late with live music and local flavor.

After a few extra weeks of finishing touches, the long-awaited Sister Sister Deli & Market opens its doors for a three-day soft launch, November 6 – 8. Friday night's ticketed event will include samples of signature sandwiches, hors d’oeuvres, cheeses, and charcuterie. The Beaufort Blog will be there at 5:30 PM for the first bite — stay tuned for photos and first impressions!

6 PM – 9 PM | Heritage Days – “Hitsville at Heritage” Motown Revue
Penn Center, St. Helena Island
A soulful evening of Motown classics featuring Anthony McKnight and James Stephens III, plus a fish fry and oyster roast beneath the oaks.


Saturday, November 8

8 AM – 2 PM | Beaufort Moose Lodge Community Yard Sale
350 Broad River Blvd., Beaufort
Early-morning treasure hunt with antiques, jewelry, furniture, and collectibles.

9 AM | Heritage Days Parade & Festival Day
Penn Center Campus, St. Helena Island
Parade kicks off from Ballpark Road at 9 AM, followed by all-day food, art, and performances celebrating Gullah Geechee culture.

10 AM – 2 PM | 2nd Saturday Sip & Stroll
Paris Avenue, Port Royal
Browse boutiques, sip local favorites, and discover handmade goods during Port Royal’s monthly open-air market.

12 PM – 3 PM | Community Reiki Clinic
The Healing House, 709 Paris Ave., Port Royal
Reiki Masters offer walk-in sessions to promote balance and relaxation. Free-will donations appreciated.

1 PM – 3 PM | Faith & Blue Weekend – Building Bridges in Our Community
Praise Assembly, Port Royal
Join neighbors, officers, and local leaders for this family-friendly event featuring food trucks, bounce houses, and a dunk-tank fundraiser for Hopeful Horizons.

12 PM – 3 PM | 2nd Annual Cheers for Chairs Brunch & Silent Auction

4 PM | Saluting America’s Veterans X – Lowcountry Wind Symphony Concert

A free patriotic concert honoring veterans and celebrating the 250th birthdays of the U.S. Army and Marine Corps.


Monday, November 10

2 PM | Belleau Wood Tavern Groundbreaking Ceremony

Celebrate the future Belleau Wood Tavern with a special groundbreaking ceremony commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps. Features color presentation, remarks, and community gathering.

4 PM – 7 PM | Marine Corps Birthday Celebration & Veterans Appreciation Cookout

Tuesday, November 11 – Veterans Day

10 AM | Beaufort’s Annual Veterans Day Parade
Downtown Beaufort (Bay & Boundary Streets)
A beloved Beaufort tradition featuring schools, service members, and marching bands in a moving salute to those who served.

12 PM (Noon) | Reading of the Names – U.S. Colored Troops Ceremony
Grand Army of the Republic Hall, 706 Newcastle St.
Join The Beaufort Blog's team for a solemn remembrance of nearly 1,400 Civil War veterans of the U.S. Colored Troops. Presented by USCB’s Institute for the Study of the Reconstruction Era.

Friday, November 14

10 AM – 2 PM | Veterans Wills Clinic
Disabilities and Special Needs Office, 100 Clearwater Way, Beaufort
Lowcountry Legal Volunteers is hosting a free Veterans Wills Clinic to help local veterans prepare and finalize essential legal documents. This community service event is sponsored by Clair Craver and supported by the Junior Service League of Beaufort, whose members will volunteer throughout the day to assist attendees.
