Are you or someone you know a young woman interested in planes, helicopters, or flying? On Saturday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the Beaufort Executive Airport will host a free event celebrating Girls in Aviation Day.

This hands-on experience is designed to open the world of aviation to the next generation. Attendees will have the chance to explore aircraft, learn about career paths, and connect with professionals who have built their lives in aviation.

One highlight of the day will be the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Support Unit. Female Tactical Flight Officers will be on site with the department’s helicopter, sharing what it’s like to serve in law enforcement while taking to the skies.

Several other organizations, including local flight training programs, the Civil Air Patrol, and the United States Marine Corps, will also participate, showcasing the many opportunities available in aviation.

Bring your curiosity, ask questions, and see firsthand how dreams can take flight.

This free community event is part of a growing movement to encourage more women and girls to explore opportunities in aviation, whether as a hobby or a profession. With hands-on experiences, role models, and interactive displays, the event shows that the runway is wide open for future female pilots, engineers, and leaders in flight.

Why It Matters

Women remain underrepresented in the aviation industry, making events like this one especially impactful. By meeting pilots and aviation professionals face to face, young women gain the chance to see themselves in those roles. The event also provides valuable information about training programs, scholarships, and mentorship opportunities that can help turn a dream into a reality.
