As October settles over Beaufort, the moss-draped streets whisper with stories of the past. For more than three decades, the CAPA & Exchange Club Ghost Tours have brought those stories to life, combining spine-tingling legends with a cause that matters. This year the ghost tours run select nights from October 10 through October 30. 

What Are the CAPA & Exchange Club Ghost Tours?

The tours mix history, folklore, and local hauntings on guided walking and carriage rides through downtown Beaufort. Tour goers hear tales of ghostly apparitions, mysterious happenings, and the spectral legacies of historic homes and alleys. Carriage tours and walking tours are offered on selected nights, allowing participants to choose the pace and style that best suits their spooky mood. 

Each year this becomes a highlight event in Beaufort’s Halloween calendar.

About CAPA & Its Mission

CAPA stands for the Child Abuse Prevention Association of Beaufort County. Its mission is “to break the destructive cycle of child abuse and neglect by equipping parents, strengthening families, and providing advocacy, prevention, and support services.” 

Through programs, education, counseling, and outreach, CAPA works to protect children and support families in vulnerable situations. The ghost tours, run in partnership with the Exchange Club, are a major fundraising event that channels community support into CAPA’s services.

Ticket Pricing: Carriage tours run at about $30 per adult and $20 for children ages 3-11. Walking tours are lower. 

Location & Start Points: Tours start in the historic downtown Beaufort area. Walking tours launch from Cannon Park; carriage tours begin near Bay Street. 

Duration: Walking tours typically last around one hour. Carriage tours run about 45 minutes.

Advance Booking Recommended: Because the tours are popular and run only on select nights, it’s wise to reserve your spot early.
