Wednesday, April 3 - Coastal Cultures Conference 2024: Gullah/Geechee & Biodiversity

The 2024 Coastal Cultures Conference will center on historic St. Helena Island, SC and journey to the Coastal Empire on the Georgia coast. This annual conference hosted by the Gullah/Geechee Sustainability Think Tank brings together a wide variety of diverse environmental leaders focused on ensuring not only the sustainability of the coast and our waterways but also the cultural heritage of communities such as that of the Gullah/Geechee Nation. This year, the event will include pre-conference environmental sustainability projects on St. Helena Island, a coastal adaptation and sustainability tour from South Carolina to Georgia, Gullah/Geechee Living Marketplace, Gullah/Geechee Black & Gold Ball and the annual Coastal Culture Circle of Engagement.
Friday, April 5 - Book Signing with Author of ‘Swamp Kings’ Murdaugh Family story

A conversation with Jason Ryan, author of Swamp Kings: The Murdaugh Family of South Carolina and a Century of Backwoods Power. Q&A to follow talk. Free; first-come, first-served. Books will be available for sale and signing.
