Happy New Year, Beaufortians! Kick off the incoming year with these exciting events happening in January in Beaufort and Port Royal! 🎆

1. The Pelican Plunge 2025 - Wednesday, Jan. 1

Launch the New Year with the 15th Annual Pelican Plunge at the Lighthouse Complex in Hunting Island. Beginning at noon, the event will feature a costume parade at 12:30 PM, food trucks, t-shirt giveaways, and prizes.  Adults are $10 and kids are $5 upon entry.

2. New Year's Day Pirate Plunge - Wednesday, Jan. 1

On Wednesday morning, have a plunderful time at the Annual New Year's Day Pirates Day Plunge beginning at 10:30 AM at Shellring Ale Works. To take the plunge, the cost is a donation of $25 for adults and $10 for children 21 and under. Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed pirate!

3. All Day Oyster Roast - Wednesday, Jan. 1

Shuck it up, buttercup! Presented by Shellring Ale Works, enjoy local cluster oyster buckets and live music at the All Day Oyster Roast.

4. Movie Afternoon with BPD - Thursday, Jan. 2

Join the Beaufort Police Department at the Charles Lind Brown Center for a night of movie magic with The Peanuts Movie. The event is free, and snacks and drinks will be provided outside of the center. All children are required to be accompanied by an adult figure.

5. Lillie's Hope Haven Lowcountry Sneaker Ball - Saturday, Jan. 4

Calling all sneakerheads! Join Lillie's Hope Haven for their annual Sneaker Ball  event. Bring your friends and family for a night of dancing, socializing, and fashionable fun! General admission is $55. Get your tickets before the sale ends soon!

6. Community Read -Aloud at the Port Royal Farmers Market - Saturday, Jan. 4

Join the students of DAYLO (Diversity Awareness Youth Organization) for a Teddy Bear Picnic Read-Aloud at the Port Royal Farmers Market. At this free community event, college and high school volunteers from Beaufort-based DAYLO chapters congregate to read diverse and inclusive picture books to children and families.

7. Happy Art Studios Acrylic Painting Class - Monday, Jan. 6

Brush up on your creative skills with Happy Art Studios for a beginner-friendly acrylic painting class to learn about value studies, color theory, and composition. The class is available for people ages 12 and up, and costs $60 to attend. 🎨

8. Oyster Roast & Burning of the Greens - Monday, Jan. 6

Celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany with the Parish Church on Cherokee Farms Rd. Catered by the Sea Eagle Market, the event will have free oysters, hot dogs, and chili for attendees. Please bring your own drink and chair.

9. Good Works Laundry Co. Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony - Wednesday, Jan. 8

Good Works Laundry Co. is thrilled to host their ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate their new name and exciting future at the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce! Come celebrate and meet the team to honor this milestone! ❤

10. Beaufort Oyster Festival 2025 - Thursday, Jan. 9 - Sunday, Jan. 19

Come to Downtown Beaufort to enjoy the annual Beaufort Oyster Festival! The event will have free admission, live entertainment, boating tours, a 5K run and cornhole tournament, and of course, delicious fire roasted oysters! The Oyster Boogie 5K will take place on Saturday, Jan. 18. The Cornhole Tournament is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM on Sunday, Jan. 19. All oysters are locally farmed and harvested! 🦪

11. The Pat Conroy Literary Center's Virtual Open Mic Night - Thursday, Jan. 9

Email the Pat Conroy Literary Center for the chance participate in their monthly virtual open mic night, live-streamed on their Facebook page. The featured presenter will be Niles Reddick, award-winning short story author of Who's Going to Pray for Me Now?

12. Inaugural Silent Book Club Beaufort - Saturday, Jan. 11

On Saturday, January 11, the Silent Book Club Beaufort will host their regular club meeting. Unlike traditional book clubs, the Silent Book Club Beaufort allows book lovers to enjoy their current read without any reading assignments, discussions, or deadlines. Come join to experience a relaxing, pressure-free space with fellow Beaufort bibliophiles! 📚

13. Wet Willie's Karaoke Night - Saturday, Jan. 18

Let's mic things up! From 8:00 - 11:00 PM, come to Wet Willie's for a night of fun karaoke. Bring your friends and family to this free event! 🎤

14. Lowcountry Ques' Seafood Bash - Saturday, Jan. 18

Join the Lowcountry Ques for a day of good eats at Live Oaks Park on Saturday! Make sure to get your tickets early to grab your fish platter plate or all you can eat oysters. All bash proceeds will go toward supporting local scholarships.

15. Pat Conroy Lecture at the Charleston County Public Library - Thursday, Jan. 23

Presented by the Conroy Center executive director Jonathan Haupt, comes "An Introduction to a Lowcountry Legend." From 6:00 - 7:00 PM, attend the free literary program at the historic Downtown Charleston to learn more about the internationally acclaimed writer, Pat Conroy.

16. An Evening with Memoirist and Novelist Karen Salyer McElmurray - Friday, Jan. 24

Sponsored in part by Wayward Books, award-winning creative writer Karen Salyer McElmurray will lead an evening of collaborative discussion on her essay collection, I Could Name God in Twelve Ways and her novel, Wanting Radiance.  Books will be available for purchase and signing. The event is free and open to the public!

17. Creative Writing Workshop led by Karen Salyer McElmurray - Saturday, Jan. 25

Join Karen Salyer McElmurray for an in-person creative writing workshop to enhance your literary skills! This event is ONLY limited to 12 participants with advanced registration of $60 per person required.
