5 Things We Love About Kindermusik Beaufort's Newest Kid-Friendly Creative Space

With Kindermusik, The Cat's Meow Productions is bringing science-backed music education, summer camps, and a whole lot of heart to the Lowcountry

5 Things We Love About Kindermusik Beaufort's Newest Kid-Friendly Creative Space

If you haven't heard about The Cat's Meow Productions yet, consider this your introduction. Tucked into Suite 208 at 2121 Boundary Street in Beaufort (with Bluffton classes at Alliance Dance Academy), this new studio is giving Lowcountry kids a place to learn and play. There is also event space available for birthday parties and other special events.

Keep reading for five reasons we're completely sold.

1. The science behind starting early is genuinely compelling.

This isn't just "music is nice for kids" territory. Independent research studies show that children participating in Kindermusik classes demonstrate a 32% literacy gain and show marked improvement in inhibitory control. The combination of music and movement engages children in multisensory learning experiences that ignite all areas of development. The Cat's Meow offers Kindermusik classes starting at birth, which means yes, your baby is never too young to start soaking this in.

2. Kindermusik is the real deal.

The curriculum itself is award-winning, research-based, and developmentally appropriate, and The Cat's Meow is a fully accredited Kindermusik provider serving ages birth through 7. Group musical play also boosts healthy expression, empathy, relationship building, and inner balance, while playing instruments and doing fingerplays help strengthen the small hand muscles needed for critical tasks like writing.

3. Their summer camps and workshops are a perfect fit for Lowcountry summers.

With Beaufort's long hot summers, Kindermusik is hosting camps and workshops for ages 2 through 12. It's the kind of creative, structured activity that parents here have been looking for, something that gives kids a real skill and a real experience without the screen time. Voice lessons are also available starting at age 6 for kids who want to take things further, all the way through adulthood.

4. The woman behind it has roots that run deep.

After studying vocal performance and theatre at Florida State University, Alison Chambers became a professional actress and singer. In 2005, she opened a theatre company and began teaching private voice lessons. When COVID reshaped the world, she made a move she'd long been dreaming of. In 2022, she relocated from Peachtree City, Georgia to St. Helena Island, South Carolina.

5. Beaufort needed exactly this!

The number one gripe we hear about Beaufort is that there's not a lot of indoor kid-friendly activities. Located right across the parking lot from indoor golf course Egret & Iron and Palmetto Playhouse an indoor play gym, The Cat's Meow fills that gap in the most joyful way possible. Whether you have a curious toddler, a school-age kid with a big voice, or a baby who just likes to bounce, there's something here for your family.

You can drop in to a demo class or sign up for the monthly membership. That's what we did and my 2-year-old loves it so much.
