Hoppin’ John Play Center: Beaufort's Newest Indoor Playground is Now Open

Editors note: I love my native home in Lowcountry,  but after nearly a decade in Southern California I have to say I have not yet gotten used to this humidity!  Thank goodness for indoor play spaces.  My husband, daughter, and friends attended the soft opening of Hoppin' John Play Center. Keep reading to learn more about this HUGE play space for kids ages 8 and below! 

Hoppin' John Play Center is the Beaufort, SC's newest indoor play space! Created by Lowcountry mom Ashlei Dore and John Cook, a couple raising a blended family of six kids, when they built this place, they built it with that lived experience in mind, and you can feel it.

What's Inside

The giant play center is designed for children 8 and under, and it's packed with activities. We're talking a climbing structure, bounce houses, electric scooters, and plenty of open floor space for kids to do what they do best.

The vibe at the soft launch was pure joy, little ones zooming around on ride-on toys while parents actually got to exhale for a minute. Inspired by the spirit of the Lowcountry, the name Hoppin' John is a nod to one of our most beloved regional traditions. It fits perfectly for a space that feels rooted, welcoming, and built for community.

Birthday Parties?

Oh Yes. Hoppin' John has dedicated party areas and customizable packages that make birthday planning genuinely stress-free.

The basic birthday package starts at $350 and includes admission for up to 10 children, juice boxes, a dedicated food and gift table, table covers and paper products in your color of choice, and full access to all the play areas.

Additional kids can be added for $20 each, up to 15 guests total.

Premium private party packages are also available.

A $150 non-refundable deposit holds your date, with the remaining balance due the day of the party.

With two simultaneous party setups available and a sound system that actually delivers, this is a real option for those summer birthday season plans.
